Anyone that has been involved in UC migrations knows that it is naturally complex - from discovery to provisioning. Here at VOSS we have, over the years, built our migration toolset (M2UC) and developed a robust strategy to deal with every migration. Based on the data warehouse concept of ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) we have extended the UC migration process to become DETVL (Discover Extract, Transform, Validate & Load).
However, whilst we can normalise a migration, the complexities inherent in each stage remain. M2UC brings massive amounts of power and capabilities to migrations and we are always looking at ways to streamline the process. This is a difficult balance between not limiting the available operations while reducing the number of actions required and automating tasks as much as possible.
To this end, we have developed the concept of Workflows.
Workflows neither remove nor limit any of the power of M2UC but allow the automation of tasks. Operations can be chained together to create powerful sequences of events and actions can even be set to run in parallel.
In addition to the ability to run all major operations via the Workflow GUI, at any time it is possible to do a “deeper dive” into the data, adjusting Rules and information as required. As soon as new Sources/Targets/Data-sets/Batches/Rules are developed they become available for use in the Workflows.
All of this is achieved through an intuitive GUI, with the ability to drag and drop actions into placeholders. Workflows can be named, saved and re-run as often as required and can consist of a few operations (eg provisioning users, phones and lines and associating them together in a set order) to completing an entire migration.
All actions undertaken via Workflows are logged in the usual way, with the initiating operator and the result of each action recorded. Workflows are linked to Projects and are backed up as part of the Project backup functionality.

After signing up as a partner with the International Avaya User Group towards the back end of last year, we were excited about the prospect of exhibiting at our first Avaya ENGAGE in 2020.
In case you missed it, the event took place February 2 - 5, in Phoenix Arizona.
The theme of the show? ALL IN. The organizers were encouraging us to make new connections; network with peers from across the globe; spark ideas; get involved; go ALL IN… And we certainly did.
This was an action-packed few days of networking. It was a pleasure to catch up with some of our existing customers and share our latest developments for Avaya UC management. We also had some dynamic conversations with prospective customers, who were at the show to learn more about tools such as VOSS-4-UC, and our ability to make the management of Avaya-only - and multi-vendor UC - environments easier. The opportunity to meet with so many Avaya folks was also much appreciated, as we found many new opportunities to work together in 2020.
Our booth was busy with people looking to solve UC-related business problems, and we were able to show how VOSS can introduce advanced levels of automation and workflows to improve business processes, which in turn offer a better service to end users (either employees or customers).

I’m writing this post from Phoenix, at my first Avaya ENGAGE conference. It’s been an extremely busy week, with many breakout sessions, keynotes and of course exhibiting our exciting new solution on the show floor
We formally launched our latest VOSS for Avaya solution this week, on the opening day of the show. It’s very straightforward: We are now offering simple and efficient management and assurance of integrated Avaya and Microsoft collaboration solutions. But let me not cover old ground, you can find out more, here:
What I will say is that I’m excited about the VOSS for Avaya solution, as there is clearly a huge appetite for managing Avaya UC environments. Talking with the visitors at our booth, it’s clear that everyone is looking for a way to simplify their operations. Some of the key problems folks are dealing with are:
- Keeping up to date with the latest Avaya innovations and features
- Centralizing management (bringing consistency) of the ever-growing and changing platforms
- Keeping up with day to day requests for user MACDs.
Whether your organization operates an Avaya-only solution, or whether you are creating a best-of-breed solution that includes Avaya plus other vendors such as Microsoft Teams, I am confident that VOSS will manage your UC platform far more effectively than you do now.

Monday February 3, 2020 - Avaya Engage, Phoenix Arizona - TODAY at Avaya Engage, VOSS Solutions revealed that the company has extended its efficient management of Avaya systems to add integrated management of Microsoft Teams, from a single point of control. The solution addresses the growing requirement from enterprise organizations to take advantage of the market leading capabilities of Microsoft Teams, while continuing to benefit from their investment in existing Avaya systems.
With VOSS-4-UC, organizations can now manage these combined environments efficiently and seamlessly, so that users across both systems can communicate freely, whatever their choice of client. VOSS-4-UC provides a coherent single pane view of all UC applications, services, end points, and network infrastructure. It offers feature parity and management with the latest UC applications (single stack: Microsoft and Avaya) and user on-boarding through intuitive workflows (Quick Add Subscriber) or bulk loaders (customer provisioning). VOSS-4-UC on Avaya systems gives a comprehensive range of controls to manage users, their associated services, devices and numbers.
