    Richardson, TX, Thursday, July 30, 2020 - Today, UC Today announced the winners of the 2020 UC Today Awards, and VOSS Solutions was crowned the winner in the Service Management category.

    According to Rob Scott, Publisher at UC Today, the category was open to “UC Service Management vendors able to demonstrate an improved management experience when deploying and administering UC collaboration or contact center solutions.”

    The UC Today Awards’ judging panel comprised industry experts that included Jon Arnold from J Arnold & Associates, Zeus Kerravala from ZK Research, Kevin Kieller from enableUC, Irwin Lazar from Nemertes Research, Blair Pleasant from COMMfusion, and Melissa Swartz from Swartz Consulting.

    Unified Communications is transforming the way we work and communicate every day. This is especially true now, being in such a unique situation with the onset of COVID-19, that most of us are having to adapt to a work-from-home environment. It’s also driving the massive uptake in collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, replacing the traditional desk phone as a means of talking to colleagues and customers. To put it into perspective, Zoom’s daily meeting participants surged from a mere 10 million users at the end of 2019 to upward of 200 million by March - 190 million new customers in just 3 months! This sudden shift presents many enterprises with enormous IT challenges, i.e. making sure the right people have the right tools to keep doing their jobs. It is critical that your staff have the right tools to deal with all these evolving changes.

    The incredible rate of acceleration of adoption of UC tools is putting huge pressure on organizations to respond in a rapid and very agile manner to these evolving demands. To help our customers meet this demand effectively, VOSS released the Business Admin Portal (BAP), built on top of VOSS-4-UC, the market-leading UC automation platform. The strength of the portal automating and simplifying making changes to staff communication tools and services as things change on a daily basis (Day-2 MACDs).

This means that whatever mix of communication tools your organization is using, you’ll have a single, easy-to-use portal to manage all of this from.

    What to expect?

    On initial login, you’re presented with a dashboard that provides an overview of some key pieces of information such as the number of users and phones. Basic analytics is integrated throughout the interface providing users with key insights into how users are consuming the various services in their organization.     The portal is designed to be intuitive, even for non-technical users tasked with making basic updates. The powerful VOSS-4-UC role-based-access-control system allows every aspect of the interface to be controlled in terms of what specific users can see and do. Additional features and MACDs (moves, add, changes and deletes) can also be added to any of the feature dashboards to meet the organization’s specific needs.

    The inherent complexity of managing communications systems has been hidden away in this portal. Every change the user makes is coupled with carefully designed workflows and templates to ensure that consistent and accurate configuration is applied to the underlying communications systems.

    An Insight into VOSS Phone Server - Launched this Week

    The last four months have seen unprecedented levels of uncertainty and change in the economic environment. Organizations have had to reconfigure and work from home. Telephony and UC solutions are at the heart of this, but how to continue in this environment with some level of BAU, improvement work, migration activities and running existing services whilst not introducing undue risk or cost?

    At VOSS we have been regularly asked about tools, services and ideas we can provide to assist with this process. One of the outcomes is the newly announced VOSS Phone Server, which can be used alongside Cisco HCS, Cisco CUCM/Enterprise, Avaya Aura, or Microsoft Teams – in either on-premise, managed service, or cloud delivered solutions.

    VOSS Phone Server offers complementary phone registration and telephony capabilities, offloads the main telephony solution (including licenses), and provides a level of agility to the overall solution. It is designed for:

    • Extending the lifetime of existing devices that may become unsupported as the main telephony platform is upgraded to the latest manufacturer software – perhaps to take advantage of a new capability or to mitigate a security concern.
    • Assisting with a planned migration to a new telephony solution. Existing devices can be transferred to the new solution and connected to it via the Phone Server. The existing phones, with numbers, can continue to be used during the migration process with a minimum amount of disruption.
    • Taking advantage of the wide range of new multi-vendor phones, devices and soft clients that have become available – at lower acquisition and license costs, and with new feature options (such as ‘green’ standby options) - to provide scalable, standard telephony at places such as lobbies, reception areas, meeting rooms, branch offices and even home working locations.

    VOSS Phone Server can be fully administered from VOSS-4-UC, and easy to use workflow wizards are provided to make the moving of phones between the main telephony solution and the phone server quick and error free. Phones can be moved either way!
